R.E.A.D. in America Day to Accomplish Your Dreams

September 28 is R.E.A.D. in America Day, which stands for Reading Helps Everyone Accomplish Dreams. I’m passionate about accomplishing my dreams while helping others accomplish theirs.

Accomplishing one’s dreams involves three steps:

  1. Exposure
  2. Vision
  3. Action

Reading is crucial for the first step. Imagine if you were born to be a downhill skier but lived in Florida, or destined to be an entrepreneur but have never met one and don’t even know what that means. What if becoming a cancer immunologist was your perfect path, but you’ve never even heard of it? The point is, we can’t aspire to what we don’t know exists.

Without exposure, you might settle for what’s familiar—joining the family business out of expectation or pursuing a job someone else thinks suits you but that doesn’t spark your passion. None of these options will lead you toward your dreams.

The best way to gain exposure is through in-person, fully immersed, kinesthetic experiences. When those aren’t possible, you can broaden your exposure through conversations, movies, the internet, and, most importantly, reading books. The goal is to keep learning until you discover what fuels your dreams.

You can read physical books from a bookstore or library, eBooks on an electronic device, or listen to audiobooks through platforms like Audible or some other audio platform. The key is to read—open your mind to new ideas and expand the possibilities available to you. Reflect on what you loved as a child, pay attention to activities that make you lose track of time, and notice what others seek your help with. You might not recognize what’s special about you, but others often provide clues.

Develop your internal self-evaluation system to assess whether something feels right or if there’s negative energy around it. Learn to discern whether feelings of dread are warning signs or just insecurity and fear of success or failure.

Once you gain clarity, imagine yourself living your dream life. Make this a full sensory experience: close your eyes and visualize yourself there. Ask yourself, “What do I see, hear, taste, smell, and feel in your dream life?” “What do I have that I didn’t before?” “What am I doing that I wasn’t doing before?” “What do I know that I didn’t know before?” “How have I changed?”

Act as if you’re already living that life, to the extent you are able. Stand taller, smile more, and generate happiness, peace, and satisfaction from within, letting it radiate outward. This raises your energetic vibration and attracts things vibrating at the same level.

Each day take a baby, medium, or giant step toward your dreams—whatever you can manage. Don’t become complacent. Always take action to move closer to your dreams. One of my dreams, which I help others achieve, is writing a book. If an average book is 200 pages, you could write it in 200 days by writing just one page daily. Could you see yourself writing just 500 words a day for 200 days? If you start today, September 25, you could finish by March 13, 2025. Allowing for weekends and holidays, imagine completing your book on May 1, 2025. This is certainly attainable if it’s truly your dream.

Whatever your dream, take action every day. If you don’t yet know your dream yet, keep reading to expose yourself to new possibilities. You’re sure to discover something that will put you on the path to the life of your dreams.
