Year in Review: Lessons from 2025 and Goals for 2026

I love the start of a new year and all its possibilities. There’s something grounding about pausing long enough to look back before moving forward. For me, a year in review isn’t about judgment or performance—it’s about clarity, intention, and accountability.

As I reviewed my goals for 2025, I wasn’t interested in grading myself. I was interested in understanding what moved forward, what shifted, and what I learned in the process. Through the lens of Mental Freedom®, that feels like the most responsible place to begin.

As you reflect on your own year, what stands out most—not just in what you accomplished, but in what you learned along the way?

How 2025 Stacked Up

Progress and Accomplishments

In 2025, I established proof of concept for Mental Freedom®, an important milestone toward long-term credibility and sustainability. I released 20 pounds while maintaining good health—short of my original goal, but still meaningful progress.

I completed the Inner City Capital Connections program, upgraded Olver International’s marketing materials, and continued learning marketing with the help of AI. After years of effort, I also sold my Pennsylvania house, closing a long and emotionally layered chapter.

I had the honor of keynoting the Choice Theory Convention in Ireland and delivering a pre-recorded keynote for the Day of Coaching in Iran—an unexpected opportunity to share Mental Freedom® with an international audience in a way I hadn’t anticipated when setting my goals.

On a personal level, I crocheted blankets for Logan and Emerson and made strong progress on Maeson’s, which I’ll complete this year. I spent special one-on-one days with seven of my eight grandchildren, with the eighth intentionally postponed at her request so she could spend a spring weekend with me in Chicago. One priority I’m especially committed to continuing is being fully present with my children and grandchildren when we’re together.

Through InsideOut Press, we published Logan’s book in 2025. While other Mental Freedom–related manuscripts weren’t completed on the original timeline, Daniel Conklin’s book will be published this year, with additional projects continuing to move forward.

Adjustments and What I Learned

Some goals shifted as new information emerged. An anticipated partnership with the Georgia Center for Opportunity did not move forward, and two planned Zoom retreats were ultimately set aside so I could focus my energy where there was the strongest alignment and impact. Some travel plans didn’t materialize, while others—like Ireland—created influence beyond what I originally imagined.

Rather than viewing these shifts as setbacks, I see them as valuable information. One of my takeaways from 2025 is that staying open often creates opportunities I couldn’t have planned—and sometimes those opportunities carry just as much impact as the ones I set out to pursue.

Looking Ahead: My Goals for 2026

As I move into the new year, I’m choosing alignment, sustainability, and intentional growth.

Financial Clarity and Business Stewardship

One of my primary goals is greater financial alignment—ensuring that my business is operating sustainably and intentionally. This includes being more hands-on with my finances, increasing awareness of cash flow, and making thoughtful decisions that support long-term stability and growth.

Health, Energy, and Well-Being

I’m committed to continuing my health journey by releasing another 20 pounds while maintaining the strong health I currently enjoy. Alongside that goal, I’m choosing to move my body intentionally every day—not as obligation or correction, but as an act of care, vitality, and self-respect.

Closing Reflection

As I move forward, I’m not chasing perfection or rigid outcomes. I’m choosing responsibility, clarity, and alignment—personally, professionally, and relationally. Some goals will move faster than others. Some will evolve. And that’s okay.

Mental Freedom® has never been about having everything figured out. It’s about meeting life as it is and choosing forward with intention.
