Most people realize the only person’s behavior they can control is their own; that is painstakingly obvious. And yet, we spend most of our days trying to control the behaviors of others. No one is immune–we do this with our friends, co-workers, children, parents and spouses. This behavior typically has two unintended effects. First, it causes the person you are trying to change to double down and dig in deeper with the unwanted behavior and second, it drives a wedge between you and the other person.
